Club Charter Night, October 2019 So... what happened to our club? It has been a little quiet. We had some unanticipated leadership changes that left us without a commanding officer! Our club core values are Camaraderie, Service, Commitment so we are not ready to give up. What is next? We have reached out to Rotary District 5950 leaders who are ready to help us continue to meet the huge need of serving veterans here in the state. What we have been doing hasn't worked well, so we are retaining those aspects that have served us well and are looking at ways to fulfill our mission and attract others to help in that pursuit. What can you do? 1. Participate. Come donate blood and/or volunteer at our service event next Thursday. 2. Help your club do some good! Nominate grant recipients (see story below) and then vote next week to select the best veteran service organizations with the top 3 receiving a $3000, $2000, or $1000 grant. 3. Show up. Come to the gatherings that will be hosted by the winning organizations in February, March, and April. 4. Step up. A club is a heavy lift for 3 members - but if we have 10 sets of hands ready to serve, we will be unstoppable. Interested? 5. Pay your membership dues. Our Club XO, Mark Shockey, has used his personal funds to keep our club going. If you get current on your dues, the club can pay him back. Why are we in that place? Because we want you, not your money! We want to serve vets and know you joined the club to do so, but we want to give you the opportunity to support our club as you are able. |
